How a coin ring is made
Your coin is the starting point.To begin the process, you and Paul chat about the coin, its size, and what you would like as a finish, choosing between a natural or slightly antiqued look with a patina.
The coin is then carefully prepared. Over time, coins become harder and more brittle, so they are gently heated and cooled before shaping. This allows the coin to be worked safely while preserving the details that make it unique.Using specialized tools, the coin is gradually formed into a ring. As it takes shape, the original coin design is preserved around the band, bringing the coin's history into the finished piece. Nothing is forced. The process takes time and patience to protect both the coin and its character.Once formed, the ring is refined and sized by hand. It can be finished in several ways—left with an antique patina or polished to a bright finish.
The result is your coin, transformed into something meant to be worn with pride, not stored away in a drawer.

FOUR FRIENDS & FOUR RINGSA woman contacted Paul ahead of a long-awaited reunion. Four friends, separated by time and distance, would soon be together again, and she wanted to mark the occasion with something meaningful.A commemorative Canadian coin was chosen as the starting point. Paul sourced four matching coins and, using the ring sizes provided, handcrafted a ring for each member of the group.When the friends gathered, each received a ring made from the same coin. What began as four pieces of metal became a shared reminder of friendship, memory, and the years that connected them.The reunion lasted a weekend. The rings will last much longer.

Can you make a ring from any coin? Most coins can be transformed into rings, although some materials and designs are more suitable than others. If you have a specific coin in mind, Paul will be happy to discuss the possibilities.Do you make rings from Canadian coins that are still in circulation? No. Paul only works with coins that have been removed from circulation or are no longer used as everyday currency. He does not alter current circulating coins.Do you make coin rings from other countries than Canada? Absolutely! Paul will make international coins into a special ring, and there are no circulation restrictions with those coins.What if I do not know my ring size? I have a jeweller’s ring size hoops. If you are local, you can arrange to meet Paul to determine the size of the finger you wish to use. If not, just pop into your local jeweller and they will be happy to size your finger for you.Can I supply my own coin? Yes. Many customers provide a coin that has personal significance.What happens if my coin breaks during the process? Coin rings are handmade from existing coins. While every care is taken, rare failures can occur during forming with older coins and in coins with flaws in them. This possibility will be discussed before work begins.How long does it take? Turnaround times vary depending on workload and the complexity of the ring. You can expect a ring to take up to two weeks to make, plus shipping.How does payment work? Because each ring is custom made, payment is required before work begins. This ensures materials, time, and workshop scheduling can be dedicated to your project.Can rings be resized later? Generally speaking, a coin ring can be stretched or reduced in size by about one ring size.What if my ring is damaged? Contact Paul to discuss repair options.
